The Coffs Harbour Innovation Centre (CHIC) was launched in 2001 as an initiative of the Coffs Harbour City Council, Southern Cross University and North Coast Institute of TAFE to develop a centre for incubating and innovative businesses. It is located on the Coffs Harbour Education Campus where land has been set aside for a Technology Park co-jointly owned and operated by the three partners incorporated into a Board.
The Technology Park provides an outstanding operational location for regional business development to support current and emerging local businesses and to promote regional economic development by encouraging innovative businesses from other areas of Australia to relocate.
The benefits for businesses who apply for tenancy at CHIC include:
- High quality, fully furnished, affordable office space at a reasonable rate;
- Provision of a supportive environment for tenants with access to business and marketing planning, as well as mentoring and networking with current established businesses at the CHIC; and
- Access to advice, research, training and product development from the University and TAFE.
There are currently nine tenants at CHIC representing a diverse mix of business and community organisations.
ETC was appointed by the Technology Park Board in 2011 to provide business mentoring and networking for tenants and also to raise awareness of the Innovation Centre both nationally and within the Coffs Coast Region.
