Youth Kick-Start Their Future Through Links to Learning

Local teenagers have the opportunity to kick-start their future by participating in Links to Learning, a community based program delivered by Enterprise & Training Company (ETC) on behalf of the Department of Education and Training.

"Links to Learning is a free creative and practical program aimed towards 15 to 24 year olds who have left school early and are not engaged in education or training," Links to Learning Trainer, Louise Shakespeare said.

"The students gain a broad range of valuable skills in many areas including first aid, health and nutrition, computers, cooking, horticulture and landscaping."

In its third consecutive year, Links to Learning has an average track record of providing nearly 50 per cent job placements after the completion of the program.

"The program was great and I really enjoyed the practical lessons," said Shaun Hannah, student from Links to Learning 2009.

"The trainers are really supportive and help you along the way. Without the course, I wouldn't have my job at Eagle Boys. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something to do."

The second Links to Learning program in Kempsey will begin in early August.
