Client Support
ETC recognises that some students will require assistance with learning techniques, resources and assessment strategies tailored to suit their individual learning requirements. These requirements will be established by the trainer prior to or at the commencement of the training program. The techniques used to identify individual learner needs will be at the discretion of the trainer.
Independent consultants will be engaged where reasonable, when it is beyond the trainer's capacity to identify and adapt learning materials for individual learning needs.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy
ETC aims to identify and support students whose language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills may prevent them from achieving the competency standards required by our training programs.
Should it be identified that a student may have difficulty with the learning program, an individual learning plan will be developed to assist the student.
Flexible Learning and Assessment
ETC employs trainers with appropriate qualifications and experience to deliver specified training, and facilitate the assessment relevant to the training products offered. Assessment will meet the National Assessment Principles (including Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer). Adequate facilities, equipment and training materials will be utilised to ensure the learning environment is conducive to the success of students.
Trainers and assessors are required to be flexible and innovative when delivering and assessing training to ensure that individual learning requirements are addressed.
Welfare and Guidance Services
ETC is able to provide a list of external services available for students who may require assistance.
Assessment Appeals
All students have the right to appeal against the assessment decision should they be dissatisfied with the outcome.
If you are dissatisfied with the assessment result, you are entitled to submit a formal written appeal within seven calendar days of receiving the assessment result.
The written appeal must include all grounds for the appeal and should be addressed to the Training Manager at ETC's Coffs Harbour office. The appeal and the original decision will be considered by the Training Manager, the assessor and course coordinator within 14 days of receipt of the written appeal.
Complaints and Grievances
ETC takes client complaints very seriously and treats them confidentially. ETC has client grievance and appeal procedures in place to ensure your rights are respected. If the need arises, you have the right to complete and lodge a formal complaint form. Your Course Coordinator or the Training Manager will explain the procedures to you. Clients who are not satisfied with the quality of training provided or who are unable to resolve a complaint with ETC can contact VETAB on (02) 9244 5335.

Our Access and Equity Policy ensures that student selection decisions comply with Equal Opportunity legislation.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgement of skills and knowledge a person has acquired through previous training, work or life experience, which may be used to grant status or credit in a subject or module.
Credit transfer refers to the granting of credit to students for subjects, modules or units of competency they have previously completed.
At the beginning of each course, the Trainer will be responsible for ensuring that the students are informed of the RPL and Credit Transfer procedures. Students may apply for RPL throughout the duration of their course. RPL information and forms can be obtained from the Training Solutions staff.
