The Australian Navy Cadets who attend the Training Ship Culgoa barracks have enjoyed their new gazebos thanks to a donation from the Enterprise & Training Company (ETC).
The barracks located in South West Rocks is a youth training camp for males and females aged 12 to 20 years and is sponsored by the Royal Australian Navy.
Chief Petty Officer Lorraine Schloeffel said the gazebos would be utilised by the cadets whilst undertaking water activities and community service events.
“These sun shelters give the cadets, their food and equipment protection from the weather,” CPO Schloeffel said.
Cadets who attend TS Culgoa are trained in self-discipline, teamwork, community spirit and involvement, leadership skills, and self-esteem whilst having fun. Cadets also have the opportunity to undertake advancement courses in life skills to prepare them for future community leadership.
“We were in dire need for some shelters as we only had one shelter previously which was in poor condition. The purchase of the three new shelters has had a tremendous impact on our organisation,” CPO Schloeffel said.
I’d like to thank the ETC Community Support Fund for your generous donation, it was greatly appreciated.”
ETC Chairman Rod McKelvey said it was a pleasure to be able to support the Training Ship Culgoa Australian Navy Cadets.
“The ETC Community Support Fund is designed to help organisations reduce disadvantage, generate opportunity, increase support services and/or build capacity in the communities in which we operate,” Mr McKelvey said.
“ETC is proud to be a not-for-profit company and we are confident the money we are donating will help make a more positive future for our community.”
Applications are now being called in the latest round of the ETC Community Support Fund with $200,000 available.
