What is the course about?
The Diploma of Leadership and Management focuses on developing and improving the skills necessary to manage a business, a team of people, or a department. Being a better manager begins with understanding the role you play as a leader in your organisation.
The Diploma of Leadership and Management has been carefully designed to meet the needs of today’s Managers. You will learn and apply the fundamentals of designing, planning, organising and leading your business or business unit, with access to experienced trainers/mentors. This course is perfect for Managers seeking to develop and enhance their leadership knowledge and skills in a business context.
By undertaking this program, you will learn and apply your new skills seamlessly through structured workshops and workplace assessments and/or simulated scenarios.
Who should do this course?
This qualification is suitable for people working in middle management positions, or working in a frontline management role looking to move into middle management. The qualification requires a current sound theoretical knowledge base and managerial skills to plan, carry out and evaluate your own work or the work of a team.
The program uses your workplace and/or your experience as a context for learning. Participants must currently be working to participate in workplace specific projects. You will be assessed on structured activities that demonstrate your vocational competency either in the workplace or a business simulation.
How is the course delivered?
Our blended delivery program features face-to-face training, professional development workshops and monthly workplace visits where your trainer/mentor will use your workplace and/or your experience as a context for additional learning and assessment evidence gathering.
The workshop component includes 10 half-day professional development sessions that will be offered monthly. These sessions will cover topics such as people management, personal development skills, financial plans and budgets, market trends, team effectiveness and business planning.
What does the course include?
As part of the Business Services Training Package, BSB, this course comprises of 12 units.

- 8 elective units
Elective units must be relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the qualification level.
